AIR BRIDGE TO KHOLM

During the first terrible winter of the
Russian Front, Hitler's "stand fast"
orders, which would prove a disaster in
the next year, actually worked. Several
cut-off units were resupplied by air
until relieved in the spring, again
setting a dangerous precedent that would
lead to disaster at Stalingrad.
One such example the first winter was a
pocket of the 281st Infantry Division,
cut off near Kholm. First supplied by
Ju52s, landing soon proved too dangerous,
so He111s of KG 4 began dropping supplies
into the German perimeter. General
Scherer's one and a quarter mile
perimeter held until relieved by the
411th Grenadier Regiment in May of 1942.

MISSION

Your are to take your 32 supply canisters
(represented by the 32x110 pound bombs)
and drop them inside the square perimeter
of the Kholm airfield. Just as with real
supplies, you must not allow them to hit
any buildings. Use your gun camera to
record the landing spots. You must land
24 of the 32 canisters inside the square,
without hitting any buildings, for a
successful mission. Notice that only 8
bombs are allowed "in the air" at one
time, so you'll have to make several
passes. The flak towers represent
Russians just outside the perimeter.

NOTES

This is a snow scenario.
