ASSAULT ON WARSAW

By 16 January 1945, the weather improved
enough that the 16th Air Army could
support Zhuchov's armor (the 1st
Belorussian Front) as it drove toward
Warsaw. Within a few days the weather
permitted the Luftwaffe to contest the
offensive, and fierce air-to-air battles
occurred. One unit, the 176th Guards
Fighter Air Regiment (GvIAP), which
included the top ace Major Kozhedub, was
in the thick of the fighting.

MISSION

Escort the IL-10 Shturmoviks enroute to
their target near Warsaw. Watch for the
fanatical Fascists, as they are fighting
with a new ferocity. The mission is a
failure if more than 2 of the IL-10s are
shot down.

NOTES

This is a snow mission.
