JUMPED NEAR TUNIS

On the 5th of December 1942, eight P-38s
of the 49th Fighter Squadron (14th FG)
were escorting A-20s to Tunis. On the
way back, the Squadron was jumped from
above by approximately 60 FW190s and
Bf109s. Recalled one survivor, "...it
was every man for himself. The fight
actually lasted 10 or 15 minutes, but
seemed like hours." Only 3 of the P-38s
survived the battle.

MISSION

Survive. This will be a difficult
mission. Ammunition conservation may
become important if you try to slug it
out.
