By January of 1945, the Allied
Chiefs of Staff decided to renew
the air offensive against Berlin
and other major metropolitan areas
with the hope of dislocating all
command, control, and civil ser-
vice establishments throughout the
devastated country. Chaos was the
goal, and Dresden was the end re-
sult. Berlin, however, was the tar-
get of 8 massive raids during early
1945, killing 25,000 people in one
raid alone. The US 8th Air Force
conducted the greater portion of
this offensive, but Bomber Command
also lent support.
By now the German radars were all
being jammed, their aircraft were
almost all outclassed and outnum-
bered, and few trained pilots re-
mained. Mosquito night-fighters had
begun actual "escort" missions
during late 1944, and these effective
aircraft put more pressure on the
Germans. They did have one excellent
weapon left, however: the Me262B-2as
of 10/NJG11, operating in the defence
of Berlin.......

ORDERS:
Attack your assigned target in what
remains of Berlin.
