By 1945, there wasn't much for British
bomber crews to fear while flying mis-
sions to Germany. By 1945, there wasn't
much left of the Nachtjagdkorps.
Bomber Command could bomb anywhere with
minimal casualties due to overwhelming
numerical superiority and the decline in
quality of the Nachtjagdkorps. The ul-
timate expression of this German im-
potence and Allied capability was the
Dresden raid, where the Germans failed to
put up any nachtjagers to defend the
city. The Germans had long since ceased
intruder flights over England, or even
over the Channel; it was too deadly for
the Germans to fly. One aircraft could
have changed this, but it did not reach
service.....
ORDERS: You are escorting a group of
Lancasters preparing to land at
Mildenhall. See that the bombers make
it home safely.
