       DOGFIGHT OVER PONT-A-MOUSSON

On 12 Sep 44, code name "IRONCLAD" (80th
Inf Div) had just begun their crossing of
the Moselle River. The 510th Squadron of
the 405th Group, operating from their just
occupied airstrip at St. Dizier, supported
the desparate bridgehead by bombing and
strafing artillery positions with their 11
P-47s, armed with 22x500 GP bombs. Between
16-20 BF109s arrived (reportedly with
green pilots), and the ensuing dogfight
left 5 109s down and 5 probables for the
loss of 1 P-47.

                  MISSION

You must support operation "Overquick"
(the 80th Division crossing) by taking out
as many flak batteries as possible (which
represent artillery batteries) The river
crossing will fail if you don't get at
least 3 guns. The BF-109 pilots won't be
much of a threat, but watch for their
leader.
