The Blohm und Voss P.215 Night/All-Weather Fighter

The P.215 was designed in response to a requirement for a
heavy, all-weather/night fighter to help deal with the
British bombers. Looking somewhat like a Go229 (tailless) it
was to have a crew of three in a pressurized cabin and would
have been powered by two HeS 011 turbojets housed in the rear
fuselage and fed air from an opening in the nose. Armament
was quite heavy: 5 x MK108 30mm cannon in the nose, 2 more
in a "Schraege Musik" configuration firing upwards, and one
15mm Mg151 machinegun firing backwards for defense. It would
have also had probably the FuG 218 Neptun V radar system or
the FuG 240 Berlin radar system, as well as the FuG 350
Naxos. The plane itself never left the design stage.

ESTIMATED SPECS:Top speed was 504 at sea level, 565 at 19,685
feet. Ceiling 41,000 feet.

TO USE THIS PLANE: First, make a backup copy of your
Go229.SPC file, found in the SWOTL\AC subdirectory. Call it
GO229.ORI.

Copy the file GO229.INT into the SWOTL\CP subdirectory. It
will replace the normal GO229.INT file. The normal Go229
will NOT be affected, only the BV P.215 and other hexed
planes needing rear gunners will be able to tell the
difference.

Next, copy the file "BVP215.EXP" into the SWOTL\AC
subdirectory.
To install the plane, type "COPY BVP215.EXP GO229.SPC"
To remove the plane, type "COPY GO229.ORI GO229.SPC"

OR, use the two enclosed batch files, "BVP215.BAT" and
"NOBVP215.BAT" which essentially do the two above steps for
you.

TO USE THE "Schraege Musik": Press G to access the gunners.
The top turret position, (5) has been replaced by a forward
firing pair of Mk108 Cannon. Place them on autofire. While
in the gunner position, you might as well switch to position
2 and activate the rearward firing MG151 15mm machinegun.
Schraege Musik refers to specially mounted cannon that fire
upwards and forwards at an angle. They were put into
nightfighters so as to be able to shoot down bombers from
slightly behind and below, thereby avoiding defensive fire.
Many times bombers were not even aware of the presence of
such a nightfighter.
THIS PLANE WOULD BE GOOD FOR REPLACING THE GO229 IN SWOTN,
THE NIGHTFIGHTING MODULE.....
