                 The FW190A-8 / SG116
A little while ago there was some discussion about creating
a special version of the Fw190A-8 (SG116) aircraft. This
aircraft that had vertically mounted gun tubes along the
port side of the fuselage just aft of the cockpit. Each gun
tube had one 30mm MK103 cannon round in it and like the
Me163's Jadgfaust vertically mounted rocket system, the gun
tubes were fired by a photo-electric cell, or
Foto-Zellenfuhler, which was called the Magische Auge, or
Magic Eye. The photo cell was also housed on the port side
of the fuselage just aft of the canopy.
This weapon was called the Zellendusche, or salvo weapon.
There were several arrangements of this type of weapon, but
the one modeled here is based on the 3 barreled weapon. Each
barrel was installed so that they had a 1-1/2 degree spread,
and as fitted to the Fw190A-8 for tests by VJG10, the
foremost barrel was set at an angle of 74 degrees, the
center barrel was set for 73 degrees, and the aft barrel was
set for 72.5 degrees. The trio of shells being fired at
intervals of 3/100ths of a second at a distance of
approximately 165 ft. below the target.
Another vertically fired weapons was the SG117 "Rohrblock",
which comprised a battery of seven 30mm MK108 barrels.
That's it. You are now equipped with a new weapon.
